? What you will learn

Using the concepts drawn from Sun Tzu’s art of war as the overarching framework, this comprehensive two-day workshop will equip participants with essential strategies and tools to enhance patient safety, team communication, and healthcare workplace well-being.

Participants will learn to:

Ø Understand the importance of patient safety, fostering a culture of transparency, the detrimental effect of a blame culture, and learning from errors.

Ø Understand the concept of “normal accident theory” and Swiss cheese model of errors occurrence in a complex organization

Ø Implement the Conscious actions reduce errors (C.A.R.E) approach in mitigating medical errors that can compromise patient safety

Ø Apply patient safety tools such as

o SBAR and I PASS The BATON for handoff communication.

o STEP tool for situational awareness

o DESC script to resolve conflicts

Ø Implement "Shisa Kanko" or "pointing and calling" to enhance awareness of hazards in a clinical environment

Ø Identify early signs of potential workplace violence using the STAMP tool to maintain a safe work environment.

Ø Utilize Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to systematically identify, analyze, and mitigate risks in healthcare processes before adverse events occur.

Ø Conduct Root Cause Analysis using approaches like Ishikawa's fishbone diagram and the 5 Whys, to uncover underlying causes of patient safety incidents.

Ø Identify groups of cognitive biases relevant in clinical practices through metacognitive strategies such as using the TWED checklist in order to improve clinical judgment and patient outcomes.

Ø Apply Tallman Lettering (TML) to visually differentiate Look-Alike, Sound-Alike (LASA) medications, in order to reduce the risk of medication errors.

Ø Recognize and implement strategies for mitigate burnout and enhancing staff resilience and….much more!
