    Kota Samarahan, September 18 – Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) achieved another significant milestone on the 17 September 2020 as the Vice Chansellor of UNIMAS, Professor Datuk Dr. Mohamad Kadim Suaidi signed the MoU between UNIMAS and the University of Alberta in first virtual MoU signing ceremony. The ceremony was held at 8 AM  (Malaysia time) between UNIMAS and University of Alberta (Alberta) (GMT -6, Canada time 6 PM).

    The UNIMAS’s Institute of Social Informatics and Technological Innovations (ISITI) lead by Professor Dr Narayanan Kulathuramaiyer, and Alberta initially met during the 7th eBorneo Knowledge Fair (eBKF), which was held from 22-24 October 2019 in Ba’kelalan and Long Bawan. During the eBKF, common interests was recognized from information and experience sharing, particularly those relating to the participatory action research in the area of ICT for Development.

    Through the interaction, the close relationships that UNIMAS has with communities across Sarawak and across the border come to light. From there, UNIMAS chalked out potential areas of collaboration, which included staff and student mobility, partnership activities, and collaborative research and publications.

    KOTA SAMARAHAN, September 17: The Centre of Pre-University Studies (PPPU) welcomed the arrival of its new intake students. About 856 new students reported to the campus between 1 – 5 September 2020.  The UNIMAS Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk. Dr. Mohamad Kadim Suaidi showed his support during a visit on the 5 September 2020. He congratulated the Director of PPPU, Associate Professor Dr. Muna Sabri and her team on their commitment to serve the students.

    When asked about the procedure of the students’ accommodation in UNIMAS, Seroja Residential College fellow, Madam Anissa Aziz (Faculty of  Applied & Creative Arts) explained that Liaison Officers (LO) consisting of PPPU Alumni were stationed at the Kuching International Airport to escort students safely to UNIMAS by buses.  Upon their arrival, students will need to go through a series of health screening in their respective college while registering. Students will also need to fill in forms with their personal information and scan the QR code provided before receiving their room keys. The male students are sorted to Rafflesia Residential College while the female students remained at Seroja Residential College accommodation.     Ketua-Ketua Fokus Strategik (Strategic Focus Owner) telah bertemu sekali lagi dalam Bengkel Pemurnian Pelan Strategik 2021-2025 UNIMAS di Ranchang Room, Damai Beach Resort pada 11-13 September 2020. Bengkel kali ini bertujuan memurnikan dan memuktamadkan Strategic Focus, Strategic Commitment, Strategic Initiative dan Key Performance Indicator bagi SF1-SF5.

    Turut serta ialah pasukan petugas UNIMAS Global dan SQRC yang berganding bahu dalam merangka isi kandungan, rekabentuk, susun atur dan penerbitan Buku Pelan Strategik 2021-2025 UNIMAS.

    Majlis Penyerahan Komputer dan Penutupan Program Kursus Kesihatan Keluarga Kampung Mang bagi sesi akademik 2018/2020 telah diadakan dengan jayanya di Masjid Ali Fatimah, Kampung Mang.

    Program Kursus Kesihatan Keluarga merupakan program yang melibatkan pelajar-pelajar perubatan tahun satu dan tahun dua. Menjadi tradisi bagi program ini, terdapat dua buah majlis besar yang diadakan iaitu Majlis Penyerahan Anak Angkat dan Majlis Penutupan Program Anak Angkat. Majlis Penyerahan Anak Angkat telah diadakan pada 9 Mac 2019 bertempat di Pusat Islam Tun Abang Salahuddin (PITAS), UNIMAS. Manakala perancangan bagi Majlis Penutupan pula sepatutnya diadakan di Dewan Masyarakat Kampung Mang pada 20 Jun 2020.    

    Walau Bagaimanapun disebabkan Pandemik Covid 19, majlis yang telah dirancang terpaksa dibatalkan. Bagi menghargai kerjasama yang telah dihulurkan, UNIMAS melalui Fakulti Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan telah menyerahkan 2 unit komputer baharu kepada wakil penduduk Kampung Mang dan sekaligus menutup Program Kesihatan Keluarga.

    Majlis ini dihadiri 50 orang (35 orang keluarga angkat dan 15 orang warga UNIMAS). Terdapat 5 buah keluarga angkat yang tidak dapat hadir kerana tugasan-tugasan yang tidak dapat dielakkan. Manakala para pelajar masih belum kembali ke kampus kerana masih lagi mengikuti aktiviti Pengajaran & Pembelajaran secara atas talian.

    UNIMAS Business School (UBS) proudly organised a 10 days (17-28 August 2020) course titled Introduction to Graphic Design for Housewives a fully funded course by Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) under the Housewives Enhancement and Reactivate Talent Scheme (HEARTS). The objective of HEARTS scheme is to train talented housewives to actively participate in the economic growth of the country and to provide a platform for housewives to acquire new skills.

    20 housewives have been selected to join this course. This course consists of 10 modules, crafted for housewives with exclusive benefits, tailor-made learning units based on their basic knowledge, enhance skills in applying graphic design software and online design tools. Participants also learn designing home-based product labels and stickers. This course has benefited them to generate their household income upon course completion. The course was conducted by Ts. Syharul Nizam Junaini, a Certified HRDF Trainer from Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UNIMAS.

    KUCHING: Members of the Unimas Women’s Association (Masnita) were told to work together for the benefit of the association, and to reach its goal and contribute back to community.

    Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi said an association would not succeed if its members did not work as a team.

    Alluding to the recent Covid-19 pandemic, he said it was an example of what the community could do together if united, and they were able to help everyone regardless of position, colour and creed.

    “The Covid-19 pandemic can be used as a role model for members of organisations and associations. In any matter, cooperation is important if we want to achieve success in the future.

    “Without cooperation, it is certainly impossible to achieve something,” said Prof Kadim when officiating the launch of the Masnita Management Information System (Manis) at the campus yesterday.

    He praised Masnita for the unity among its members through the activities held over the years and hoped the association becomes an example to others, encouraging the participation of female Unimas staff in the future.

    Pengarah SQRC, YBhg Prof Dr Tarmiji Masron menerima cenderahati daripada YBhg Prof Dr Norman Mohd Saleh, Pro-Naib Cansel

     

    KOTA SAMARAHAN, 9 Mac 2020:  Seramai 13 orang staf dari Pejabat Strategi dan Pembangunan Korporat UKM yang diketuai oleh YBhg Prof Dr Norman Mohd Saleh, Pro-Naib Canselor (Strategi dan Pembangunan Korporat) merangkap Pengarah Eksekutif Strategi-UKM telah membuat lawatan ke Pusat Perancangan Strategik, Pengurusan Kualiti dan Risiko (SQRC). Lawatan penandaarasan ke SQRC ini adalah bagi tujuan perkongsian ilmu dan penambahbaikan terhadap proses kerja sistem sedia ada.

    Turut serta semasa lawatan adalah Prof Dr Zaidi Omar, Timbalan Pengarah Eksekutif I Strategi-UKM, Prof Madya Dr Wan Zawiah Wan Zin, Timbalan Pengarah Eksekutif Strategi-UKM, Prof Madya Dr Azlan Shah Zaidi, Timbalan Pengarah Eksekutif II Strategi-UKM, Encik Saidi Ismail, Ketua Penolong Pendaftar Kanan dan Ketua Pentadbiran Strategi-UKM, Puan Zaimi Makhtar, Penolong Pendaftar Kanan Strategi-UKM, Puan Nor Saribon Ramli, Penolong Pendaftar Strategi-UKM serta beberapa orang staf dari Pusat Teknologi Maklumat UKM.

    Rombongan turut berkesempatan berkunjung ke konti UNIMAS.fm dan YBhg Prof Dr Norman sempat ditemubual oleh DJ yang bertugas. Selain itu, rombongan juga sempat melawat Muzium Anatomi serta Pusat Simulasi Klinikal di Fakulti Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan (FPSK) sebelum berangkat pulang.
