Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Su aidi paid a courtesy visit to Jabatan Bekalan Air Luar Bandar (JBALB) Sarawak at ST3 Simpang Tiga on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Professor Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim (Deputy Vice Chancellor Reseach and Innovation, UNIMAS), Professor Dr Lo May Chiun (Senior Director Research, Innovation and Enterprise Centre, UNIMAS) and consultant team from the Faculty of Computer Science and IT, UNIMAS.
During the visit, they were briefed on the progress report of JBALB Command Centre and Digitalization Project located at the JBALB HQ ST3 building. The objective of the project is part of the digitalization exercise by JBALB to leverage on technology such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) monitoring, Internet of Things, Smart Monitoring System, Hydraulic Modelling, and various sensors technology to increase the efficiency and productivity of JBALB operations, monitoring and planning which include aspect of water production, distribution and consumption. The first phase of this project covers monitoring of 13 water treatment plants, 100 high level tank, booster stations, and sensor points throughout Sarawak. The consultant team from FCSIT, UNIMAS has been appointed as the consultant for the project which involves conducting needs analysis, technical review and assessment, technical specification, and project monitoring. The project is which started in 2019 is expected to be fully completed and operational in December 2021.
